Saree care guide
Jamdani, Muslin and Katan
Dry clean only. Store folded in a cotton or muslin cloth, never in plastic, and refold along different lines every few months so the threads don’t crack.
Silk and Benarasi
Dry clean the first few times. Keep away from perfume and deodorant, which stain silk. Iron on the reverse at low heat.
Tant and cotton
Hand wash in cold water with mild soap, the first wash on its own. Dry in shade. Light starch keeps Tangail tant crisp.
Georgette and embroidered sarees
Dry clean. Store embroidered sarees flat or rolled so the work doesn’t catch, with tissue between the folds.
